Cloud security startup hopes it holds key for cloud encryption

February 10, 2011 — CSO —   When enterprises think about cloud computing they think about the benefits of paying as they go and not forking out a fortune for a new layer of infrastructure. They think about not having to worry about managing hardware, operating systems and vast arrays of storage. One thing they don't usually think about is the physical location where their data will be stored. That's one of the benefits of cloud computing, and one of the risks.

  1. Exactly. The data might not be stored on THEIR systems, but it's stored somewhere...possibly not even in the same country as the company is located. So if there is some form of unrest, (for example Egypt) They could get locked out or worse..the entire system get compromised.

  6. Do they every really think? Honestly. It's just a way to abstract real innovative solutions into a "LET THE CLOUD DO IT FOR US" mentality.

  16. True, a wired connection is always more secure than a wireless one. Though I don't really have anything too classified, etc. so... I think I'll be just fine with my dropbox lol

  17. Cloud computing is a great concept and very reliable for infrastructure. For the time being I do believe this is one of the best solutions for corporations and others to consider moving to.
